Camp this week was pretty awesome. I got to help with the cooking camp for 6-8 year olds called "Fancy Fruit and Finger Sandwiches" The daily menu usually began with making smoothies and then mixing up some cake mix. Afterwards we'd usually help the kids cut some fruit or vegetables and then having a few kids help make grilled cheese or paninis. On Monday they made bruschetta (amazingly the kids ate more than I thought). On Tuesday we helped the kids carve swans out of an apple. Each day we allowed the kids to do more an more as they showed their cooking/cutting skills. By Friday they helped us cut a watermellon into a viking ship and make strawberry shortcake. It was a week full of eating.
The second half of my day was Sports Camp with the 9-12 year olds. Sports Camp is my least favorite camp to help out with. This week was especially difficult because my ankles were giving me alot of trouble. A lot of the kids are in this camp only because it's the only one offered in the afternoon for the age group so they don't really want to be there. On Friday we awarded two people with sportsman of the week awards for being so positive the whole week. You could tell the kids were pretty amped about getting prizes and others were kicking themselves for not playing harder or what not. Overall it was a pretty cool week.
